Black Earth Rising is a long form thriller which, through the prism of a black Anglo-American family, examines the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa by exploring issues of justice, guilt, and self-determination.。An off-duty New York City Police Detective gets caught in an inner-city brawl between undercover cops convinced that he is a local street thug. The melee ends in a tragic death followed by an uproar within gangs and cops in neighboring communities and across the city.。故事开始于充满了异国风情的荷兰，韩杰（李泉 饰）要从此处赶往巴塞罗那参加三天后在那里举行的重要会议，然而，就在这个节骨眼上，韩杰发现自己的行李和护照居然不知所踪。无奈之下，他决定租车自驾，就这样，韩杰与车上一位名叫席洋（李昕芸 饰）的中国女留学生相识了。
