故事发生在20世纪70年代初的某个夏日，供职于江陵市医化所某科研人员意外死亡。得到报案后公安人员迅速出动，通过对现场的勘查很快判定，死者因与另一位助理陈小小发生过争吵，随后服毒自杀。虽然被判定为自杀，但是陈某却以“逼人致死”的罪名锒铛入狱，面临漫长的刑期。时间过了将近十年，当年参与办案的侦查员李安已成长为公安战线的精英，她的未婚夫路沙是一名科研工作者，而且与陈小小曾有过一段恋情。李安发现未婚夫对旧爱还有留恋一度心情烦躁，不过二人敞开心扉交流后，她发现当年的案件中存在许多疑点。 经过一番思想斗争以及取得上级领导的支持后，她尝试重新调查这起案件，一度被隐藏的真相慢慢浮现……。博多的八女家是个拥有7名成员的大家庭。因二战和经营不善等原因，父亲时次郎（西田敏行 饰）的工厂倒闭，一家人的生活开始变得窘迫。17岁的长女政子（柴咲コウ 饰）早早担负起照顾家人的重任，为了支持长男义男（松本潤 饰）的学业，她不顾母亲（富司純子 饰）的阻挠，在一家名为“长夜”的夜总会当起了陪酒女郎。在此期间，政子邂逅了影响她一生的真命天子鬼冢大造（佐藤浩市 饰）。鬼冢是战后崛起的新一代实业家，他希望尽一己之力建设一个新日本，为此终日忙碌，不断打拼。他深深爱着单纯的政子，虽然无法给她妻子的名分，却尽心尽力照顾着八女家的所有成员。此后的岁月里，八女一家携手并进，共同经历着时代的沧桑巨变…… 本片为富士电视台开播50周年纪念作品。。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power.
