1930年代，动荡的芝加哥时常被强盗集团骚扰。乔（托尼•柯蒂斯）和杰利（杰克•莱蒙）本是乐团成员，两人因偶然目睹盗匪史巴克的手下在车库内射杀告密者而被穷追不舍。走投无路之下，他们男扮女装加入一女性乐团，并随该团来到迈阿密。
